One man’s overview of the “Gee!”… and the “Ess!”ence…of the two pioneering giants of the world’s musical, literary and theatrical scene; informed by his “child of the ‘40s” viewpoint of East Coast United States Gilbert & Sullivan tradition. Bits, snippets, songs, monologue and dialogue – some of it original – laced with retro-child’s perspective on the Savoy operas’ impact on the scene in Rose Valley, Pennsylvania, an Arts & Crafts community founded in 1901 on the ideas of William Morris and other “Pre-Raphaelites,” and the “Aesthetic Movement” – the very ideas which were the target of so much playful send-up merriment in the G&S comic operas! Represented are Tial By Jury, The Sorcerer, H.M.S. Pinafore, The Pirates of Penzance, Patience, Iolanthe, Princess Ida, The Mikado, Ruddigore, Yeomen of The Guard, and The Gondoliers. George Jarden, as his character – “I” – sings and plays some 100 G&S characters, including multi-voice-recorded choruses, and men and women roles – some pre-recorded and pre-videoed and projected to on-stage screens; and, most, played live.

This Digital Download contains all the live Gee ’n Ess & “I” show, plus 16 songs and monologues and 5 song-verses deleted from the live performance – 45 minutes extra in all. Total time of the 4 CDs: 2 hours, 18 minutes. The entire audio of the show was re-mixed, and many solos have be re-recorded by “I” in studio.
